NUMBER THREE!!!

Dear Ones –

I'm home from book tour, and I wanted to thank all of you who made such a big effort (drove long distances, hired babysitters, waited patiently in the signing line) to come and see me. I am so grateful for your care and your kindness, and I loved meeting you…THANK YOU!

And I also must thank you for contributing to this splendid piece of news: THE SIGNATURE OF ALL THINGS has moved up on the New York Times Bestseller's list this week from Number 5 to Number 3.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: This is a 500-page novel about a 19th century spinster who spends her life studying moss. To say that this book is not exactly guaranteed bestseller material is an understatement!

But look what you have done, my briliant lovelies. Just look what you have done…

I wrote this novel as an endeavor of love and passion and creative experimentation. I wasn't at all certain that any of you would want to come along with me on this particular journey — and yet you have.

I am grateful and touched that you have embraced Alma Whittaker with such warmth and love.

On her behalf, I embrace you right back.

Heart,
LG
