For anyone who has reached page 102 of SOAT, here is a photograph of the MONOTROPA plant — the subject of Alma's first scientific paper.
Beautiful, isn't it? And ghostly. And moss-loving, of course!
Also, I've seen it called "Indian Pipe". I've noticed them growing in the deep, dank shade in the corners of my garden. They seem to like my mulch very much. The wetter the better.
Has anyone else ever seen this bit of loveliness?
